Panchagarh, Feb 11 (UNB) – A 13-year-old boy was detained on Monday following the alleged gang rape of a five-year-old girl in Hakimpur Jendapara village in Debiganj Upazila.
The accused is a resident of Jendapara village. Debiganj Police Station’s in-charge Robiul Hasan said they detained the boy from the village in the afternoon.
Family members of the victim said two teenagers, aged 16 and 13, had barged into the house and raped the minor girl on Sunday evening when her parents were not at home.
They fled after the girl lost consciousness. When the mother returned, she found her child lying on the floor unconscious. After the child regained her senses, she told her mother what had happened and named her rapists.
The victim’s mother said they took her to Debiganj Upazila Health Complex after her condition deteriorated on early Monday.
Resident Medical Officer Dr Abu Sayem said they were treating the child. “We have sent her to Panchagarh Modern Hospital for medical tests,” he said.
