Dhaka – Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive arrested 15 people and seized around 50 tonnes of jatka (hilsa fry less than 10 inches in length) from the Karnaphuli River adjacent to Karnaphuli ghat under Sadarghat police station of Chittagong city on Monday, unb news agency reported.Assistant Superintendent of Police Md Sohel Mahmud, assistant director (Media) of RAB-7, at a press briefing at night said tipped off, a team of the elite force, led by ASP Mimtanur Rahman and ASP Amirullah with the help of executive magistrate Abdullah Al Mansur and fishery survey officer Md Kamal Uddin Chowdhury, conducted the drive in the river from 11am.
They seized 50 tonnes of jatka from cold storage of a vessel, ‘Cresent-4’, added the RAB ASP.
They also arrested 15 staff of the vessel.
