A one and a half-year-old boy was stabbed to death allegedly by his mother over family feud at Masterpara in the city’s Uttar Khan Monday night.
The deceased was identified as Nehal Sadik, son of Syed Sajjad Hossain Murad Babu and Fahmida Mir Mukti. A resident of the area, Sajjad works in Uttara North Tower. Dhaka, UNB news agency reported.
Asaduzzaman, sub-inspector of Uttar Khan police station, said the couple’s relation was not going well for the last several days.
When Sajjad returned home around 10pm from his workplace, he saw his baby, covered in a quilt, and wife lying on the bed.
Later Sajjad removed the quilt only to see the baby dead with severe stab injuries in his stomach; a scene which made him unconscious.
Police primarily suspected that the minor’s mother Fahmida stabbed his son and tried to commit suicide as she also received injuries to her throat, added the SI.
On information police recovered the body and sent it to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Later the injured Fahmida was admitted at the DMCH.
Police also detained Sajjad to interrogate him.
