Members of Border Guard (BGB) in a drive seized 526 goat rawhides foiling a smuggling bid at Putkhali border point on Wednesday morning.Acting on secret information that huge goat hides were being smuggled to India, a team of BGB-23 conducted a drive in the bordering area and seized 526 pieces of goat rawhides in the morning, said commanding officer of BGB-23 Lieutenant Colonel Abdur Rahim. However, BGB could not arrest anyone as the smugglers managed to flee.The market value of the goat hides is Tk2.63 lakh, he added.The seized rawhides were deposited to the Benapole customs house.A case was filed in this connection. -UNB, Benapole
