Dhaka – Members of Bangladesh Coast Guard detained 59 fishermen along with 2 lakh metres of current net early Tuesday while they were fishing in different areas of Chandpur district.Sources at the Coast Guard headquarters said a team from Coast Guard Chandpur station conducted drives at Ahonghat, Harina Ferryghat, Haimchar, Alu Bazar, Logimarar Char, Kattakhali, Char Bhairab, Ekhlaspur, Mohanpur, Raj Rajeshar and Madarasah Launchghat in the Meghna River from 5am.
During the drives, the law enforcers arrested 59 fishermen on charge of fishing using banned current net and seized 2 lakh metres of net worth around Tk 70 lakh from their possession.(UNB)
