Dhaka, Jun 11 – Six fishermen went missing as a fishing boat capsized near Domar Char in Noakhali coast in the Bay of Bengal amid a storm on Sunday.Wahab Member, owner of the boat, said 15 fishermen went to the sea on Saturday from Kadirakhal area of Hatiya upazila for fishing.
On Sunday afternoon, the boat sank during a storm while they were returning home.
Nine fishermen managed to swim to another fishing boat while six others went missing in this acccident.
The missing fishermen are Horon, 24, Rubel, 21, Enayet, 18, Sufian, 23, Jahir, 25, and Alamgir 26, all residents of Jahajmara union under the upazila.
Khondakar Rizaul Karim, Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Hatiya, said at least 12 villages of three unions — Jahajmara, Char Ishwar and Tomoruddin — of the upazila went under water for tidal surge. – UNB
