Dhaka – A tribunal here on Thursday sentenced six people to life term imprisonment in case over attempting to rape two cousins after abducting them in Lohagara upazila in 2005.The lifers are-Arman Prokash Forman, 31, Farid Prokash LG Farid, 34, Mohammad Shahed, 31, Anwar Hossain, 32, Shahab Uddin, 31 and Mohammad Rubel, 31.All of them were tried in absentia.According to the prosecution, the convicts picked up two cousins near forest office when they went out of home for buying medicine in Padua union of Lohagara upazila on November 29, 2005.They took the girl to an isolated place and tried to rape them.Hearing screaming of the girls when local people rushed in the criminals fled away.Victim’s family members filed the case with Lohagar Police Station on November 31.Police submitted chargsheet in 2006 and the court started formal trial in 2007.After examining all the records and four witnesses, Judge Mohammad Motahir Ali of Women and Children Repression and Prevention Tribunal-2, handed down the verdict.UNB news agency
