A mobile court in a drive seized 63 maunds of jatka (small hilsa) from two trucks on the Dhaka-Mawa highway at Chanbari in Srinagar upazila of the district on Thursday.
The court, led by executive magistrate Ramandra Nath Biswas, intercepted the Dhaka-bound trucks from Shariatpur and seized the 63 maunds of jatka kept in 22 baskets.The court also realized Taka 5,000 as fine from each truck driver.Later, the jatkas were distributed among local orphanages and madrasas of Srinagar upazila.
The court comprised of officials of fisheries department, police and other officials concerned. -BSS, Munshiganj
