7 Bangladeshis injured in Beirut blast

Seven Bangladeshis sustained injuries in two explosions that ripped through Lebanon’s capital Beirut on Tuesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs says.
Condition of one of the injured was ‘critical,’ it added. Its spokesperson Md Shameem Ahsan said Bangladesh authorities were in constant touch with its mission in Beirut.
The mission is also in touch with the local Lebanese authorities to ensure their proper treatment for those injured.
“We are closely monitoring the whole situation,” Ahsan said.
The identity of those injured was not yet known.
Media reports suggest the blasts, targeting Iranian embassy in a widening war between Shia and Sunni rebels in neighbouring Syria, has so far killed 23 people.
However, it cannot be ascertained immediately as to how many Bangladeshis live in Beirut. According to the Bureau of Manpower Export, so far nearly 95,000 people went to Lebanon with work permits.-bdnews24.com
