7 Bangladeshis returned from Indian jail

Seven Bangladesh nationals returned home from India on Thursday night after languishing in Indian jail.

Indian police handed them over to the Bangladesh immigration police through Benapole check post.

The seven BD nationals, including eight-year-old boy Simon, had languished for about two years in Indian jail for illegal intrusion into the Indian territory.

The other returnees include Simon’s father Shafiqul Islam, hailing from Dhakgram village in Abhaynagar upazila of Jessore; Babu Sheikh, 25, son of Akram Sheikh of Babupur village in Kalia upazila of Narail; Nurul Abedin, 30, son of Razzak of Buharkandi village in Banchharampur upazila of Brahmanbaria; Aftabur Rahman, 27, son of Abdul Jalil of Bubrapur village in Chhatak upazila of Sunamganj; Sharif Mollah alias Borhan, 30, son of Ramzan Mollah of Ataikhola village in Bagharpara upazila of Jessore; and Idris Ali, 22, son of Sarabot Ali Khan of Kuarpur village in Shariatpur.

Later, the seven people were handed over to their respective families with the assistance of human rights organization, Rights Jessore.
