At least seven people were injured in a clash between the supporters of two chairman candidates at Araishidha village in Ashuganj upazila early Saturday.
Witnesses said an altercation ensued between the supporters of Awami League-backed chairman candidate Hanif Munshi and Awami League rebel chairman candidate Anisur Rahman over election campaign in the area at about 2:30 am. At one stage, both the groups attacked each other, leaving seven people injured. They exchanged several rounds of bullet during the incident. Of the injured, three people were sent to a hospital in Dhaka while four others were admitted to Bajitpur Medical College Hospital. -UNB, Brahmanbaria
