7 pharmacies fined Tk 38,000 in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, Jan 29, 2014 (BSS)- A mobile court in the city fined seven pharmacies Taka 38,000 last night.
The mobile court led by Executive Magistrate Ashraf Ahmed Russel conducted drives in different areas of the metropolis and found seven pharmacies guilty of various irregularities like selling of date expired medicine and trading business illegally.  Subsequently, the court fined them Taka 38,000.The mobile court also asked various other medicine shops not to operate their business without license.Meanwhile, members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) recovered 2.3 kilograms of heroin from Hatpara Boat Ghat under Godagari Upazila of the district last night. However, none could be arrested in this connection, BGB sources said.Make NID-MR campaign successful for healthier nationRANGPUR, Jan 29, 2014 (BSS)-Mayor of Rangpur City Corporation (RCC) and valiant freedom fighter Alhaj Sharfuddin Ahmed Jhantu has stressed for making the National Immunization Day (NID) and Measles-Rubella (MR) Vaccination Campaign-2014 successful for building a healthier nation.He said this while addressing a discussion on the occasion of launching the NID-MR Campaign at Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI)-run RCCI Public School & College in the city on Tuesday as the chief guest.RCCI President Alhaj Mostafa Sohrab Chowdhury Titu presided over the discussion meeting arranged at the auditorium of the reputed
educational institution.Civil Surgeon of Rangpur Dr Reajul Islam attended and addressed the discussion as the special guest and elaborately narrated the importance of making the NID-MR Campaign successful in the process of building a healthier nation for the future.Senior Vice-president of RCCI Moztoba Hossain Ripan delivered the welcome speech while it’s Vice-president Golam Zakaria Pintu, Directors Mostafa Ahmed, Shah Mohammad Selim and Mozammel Haque Dambel spoke on the occasion.The Directorate of Health has been conducting second round of the NID and MR Vaccination Campaign-2014 from January 25 to February 13 next with the assistances of the RCC authority in the city.The Civil Surgeon said that 42,225 under-five babies are being administered with two drops of oral polio vaccine at 376 centres of 15 RCC wards in the city with the assistances of 216 health workers,
senior staff nurses, volunteers and supervisors.Besides, they will push one dose MR vaccine using syringe to each over 1.16 lakh babies aged between 9 months and 15 years in RCC area during the three-week campaign.In his speech, the RCC Mayor called upon all concerned including teachers, guardians, health officials, health workers, nurses, volunteers and supervisors for working sincerely to make the NID and MR Vaccination Campaign a complete success.
