Spreading ICT-based knowledge among students stressed

RANGPUR, Jan 29, 2014 (BSS)-Speakers at a ceremony have asked the teachers for popularizing and spreading information and communication technology (ICT) and knowledge among the students to make them befitting citizens for the 21st century.
The present government has been working sincerely for building a middle income digital Bangladesh by 2021 through providing all digitised ICT facilities at the peoples’ doorsteps through union information service centres under A2I programme, they said.They said this while distributing laptops, multi-media projectors and other ICT inputs like speakers, modem and pen drives among the trained teachers of 200 educational institutions at a ceremony at Rangpur Government Teachers’ Training College (RGTTC).The ICT inputs were distributed for preparing digital contents and launching multi-media classrooms in the educational institutions under the ‘Launching ICT-based Education at the Secondary and Higher Secondary Level Project’ in Rangpur division.With Principal of RGTTC Professor Hamidul Haque in the chair, Director General of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Professor Fahima Khatun attended and addressed the ceremony as the chief guest.Project Director of the Project Abul Kalam Azad and Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education & ICT) of Rangpur Mizanur Rahman addressed as the special guests.The chief guest distributed laptops, multi-media projectors and other ICT inputs among the trained teachers of 200 secondary and higher secondary educational institutions out of Dinajpur, Panchagarh and Thakurgaon districts.Under the programme, laptops, multi-media projectors and other ICT materials have so far been distributed among the authorities of 2,700 educational institutions in Rangpur division paving the opportunity for launching multi-media class rooms.
In her speech, the chief guest said the rural people are now enjoying modern facilities of e-services and becoming benefited enormously getting information of the whole world instantly though they could never think in recent pasts about ICT services and benefits.She called upon the teachers to acquire proper knowledge on ICT and disseminate the same among the students of their respective institutions with a view to building our next generation befitting for the competitive twenty first century.
