At least seven different kinds of shops were gutted in a fire in the city’s Agrabad commercial area and Kamal Bazar of Patiya Pourshava of the district on Tuesday morning.The fire gutted five shops at Kamal Bazar of station road area under Patiya municipality at 7am and two shops at Excess road of Agrabad commercial area at 11am today.Fire service sources said both the fire originated from electric short circuit from separate shops and it quickly engulfed the surrounding shops that included a bakery, a hotel, an electronics shop and a pharmacy.On information, two units of fire fighters from Agrabad and two units of fire service from Patiya Fire Stations rushed to the spots and brought the fire under control.Valuables worth about TK five lakh were gutted, fire service sources said adding that none was, however, injured in the ire.- (BSS)
