Some 76 life-term convicts got release from different jails in
Rajshahi division on Wednesday..
Towhidul Islam, senior jail superintendent of Rajshahi Central Jail,
said an official order of releasing them was received here this
morning. They were released this evening on completion of necessary
formalities.
He said most of the released prisoners were accused in murder case.
Besides, there were accused in rape and woman and child repression
cases.
Islam said 44 of them were released from Rajshahi Central Jail and 14
of them hailed from Rajshahi district. The rest 30 were from other
districts.
Earlier, the jail authority recommended their clemency after being
satisfied with their behavior and completion of their 20 years behind
bars. Old-aged prisoners were also among them.
