9 hurt in crude bomb blasts in city

At least nine people, including three rickshaw-pullers, suffered injuries from splinters when crude bombs were exploded in the city’s Chankharpool and Bakshibazar areas on Wednesday evening. Locals caught a youth, Faiz Ahmed, 32, suspecting his involvement in the bomb blasts at Chankharpool and handed him over to Shahbagh Police Station after giving him a good beating.   The injured were identified as rickshaw-pullers Shovon, 40, Saidul, 30, and Abdul Khaleque, 40, pedestrians Sadeque, 35, Rafique, 25, Humayun Kabir, 30, Abul Hossain, 37, Liton, 30, and Babul, 45.   Sources at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) said the first incident took place at about 5:35 pm when 5-7 crude bombs were exploded in front of Chankharpool Filling Station injuring eight people, including the three rickshaw-pullers.   In the other incident, several crude bombs were exploded in Bakshibazar, leaving one injured.   The injured were rushed to the DMCH.   Meanwhile, 2-3 crude bombs were blasted in front of the gate of Dhaka Medical College Hospital-2 at the same time.
