9 hurt in Jamuna oil depot fire in Ctg

At least nine employees of Jamuna Oil Company Ltd suffered burn injuries as a fire broke out at its depot in the city’s Patenga area on Friday evening.
Fire Brigade sources said the fire originated from sparks ignited during welding on a pipe at the depot of the state-owned company at Guptakhal at about 6:30 pm.On information, two firefighting units rushed in and doused the flame after 15-20 minutes with the help of employees, said Deputy Assistant Director of Chittagong Fire Brigade Jasim Uddin.
The injured were rushed to the burn unit of Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH). Contacted, Nayek Md Jahangir Alam of CMCH Police Camp said that the condition of eight injured –– Md Khairul, Hasan, Nazir, Lokman, Jamir, Jamshed, Jalal and Shamsul –- was stated to be critical at the hospital. The other injured is Rahim who received minor injuries. – UNB
