Dance Festival at Shilpakala Academy

Dhaka – A three-day dance festival, titled ‘Nrityanchal Utsab’ began at Shilpakala Academy on Wednesday, unb news agency reported.
Dance school Nrityanchal organised the festival in association of Shilpakala Academy.
Legendary Indian ‘Bharatnatyam’ dancer Leela Samson was present at the inauguration as the chief guest while artist Mustafa Manwar as special guest.About 250 artists of Nrityanchal performed ‘Kathak’ under the direction of dancer Shibly Mohammad at the inaugural function at National Theatre Hall of Shilpakala Academy.
Speaking on the occasion, Leela Samson said she is very impressed with the artistic performance of Nrityanchal.
“It is an extra-ordinary dance night for me,” she said
Mustafa Manwar in his speech said dance is a different expression to express some common things to the people.
The organizers honoured dance instructor Rahija Khanam Jhunu at the programme.
Nrityanchal and Srishti Cultural Centre will present a dance-drama, titled “Badi Bandar Roopkatha”, adapting from the saga of ‘Ali Baba O Chollish Chor’ at the same venue at 7pm on April 28.
In the closing day on April 29, a different dance performance by 25 underprivileged and disabled artists will be presented at Nandanmancha of Shilpakala Academy.
