17 BNP-men face arrest in setting bus ablaze case

Dhaka – A Dhaka court on Wednesday issued warrants for the arrest of 17 BNP leaders and activists, including Selima Rahman, Barkat Ullah Bulu, Shimul Biswas, Shirin Sultana and Maruf Kamal Khan in a case filed with Khilgaon Police Station of the city under the Special Powers Act.Judge M Kamrul Hossain Mollah of the Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court of Dhaka issued the warrant after taking into cognizance of the charge sheet on Wednesday morning.
The court also directed the Officer-in- Charge (OC) of Khilgaon Police Station to submit a report on the execution of the arrest order on February 26.
On January 31, 2015, a group of miscreants set on fire a bus of ‘Turag Transport’ during a blockade programme enforced by BNP.
M Nazrul Islam, owner of the bus, filed a case with Khilgaon Police Station against 21 BNP leaders and activists, including Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, MK Anwar and Amanullah Aman.
On May 19, 2016, Sub-Inspector M Bilal Hossain and also the Investigation Officer of the case, submitted the charge sheet of the case against 24 persons to the court.
However, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, MK Anwar, Amanullah Aman and five other accused persons, meanwhile, secured bail in the case. – Special Correspondent
