Dhaka, Feb 8 – Two suspected robbers were killed in a ‘gunfight’ with police at Panchpir in Kahalu upazila of Bogra district in northern Bangladesh early Wednesday.The deceased were identified as Ibrahim Hossain, 54, and Dulal Hossain, 52.
Officer-in-charge of Kahalu police station Nur-e-Alam Siddiqui said a police team, acting on a tip-off that a robber gang was preparing to commit robberies in the area , conducted a drive there around 2am.
Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the robbers opened fire on the policemen forcing them to fire back that triggered a gunfight.
Ibrahim and Dulal were caught in the line of fire and died on the spot while other members of the gang managed to get away.
Police later recovered the bodies and sent those to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital morgue.
The law enforcers also recovered one foreign pistol, one magazine, some sharp weapons and five bullets from the spot. – UNB
