BNP’s sit-in protest against gas price hike Thursday

Dhaka – The BNP will stage a two-hour sit-in programme in the city and elsewhere in the country from 10:00am Thursday protesting the recent hike in gas prices.In Dhaka, the city BNP will stage sit-in programme at Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh, said BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
Senior party leaders including secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir are expected to present at the programme, he said.
The BNP that had failed to conduct any outdoor programme from May last year is going to stage the sit-in inside the auditorium of the IEB.
Party leaders said they would observe the programme peacefully.
Earlier on Tuesday, Ruhul Kabri Rizvi announced the programme through a press conference at the party’s Naya Paltan central office.
The BNP leader called upon the party leaders and activists to make the sit-in programme a success. – Staff Reporter
