SC upholds HS ban on tannery waste as fish-poultry feed

Dhaka – The Supreme Court on Sunday upheld a High Court order that asked for putting an end to the use of tannery waste as fish and poultry feed.A four-member bench of the Appellate Division, headed by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha, passed the order. Lawyer Manzil Murshid said, the Appellate Division also rejected a leave-to- appeal petition filed challenging the High Court order.
Earlier, on 21 July 2011, a High Court bench directed the authorities concerned to stop manufacturing poultry and fish feed from tannery waste following a writ petition filed by Human Rights and Peace for Bangladesh, organisation. – Special Correspondent
