Mymensingh – Professor Dr M Sattar Mondal, an eminent Agricultural Economist, educationalist and former vice-chancellor of BAU has been appointed as first ‘Emeritus Professor’ of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) in Mymensingh.The appointment was made by Syndicates of BAU. Confirming the appointment, director of BAU public relations and publications department Dr Aminur Rahman Chowdhury on Tuesday said that Dr M Mondal has been appointed as Professor Emeritus of BAU Agricultural economics department for a five-year term.
He will be the first Professor Emeritus in BAU history. Prof Mondal is currently a syndicate member of BAU.
He has joined BAU as a lecturer in 1973. He completed his graduation from BAU in 1972 and post graduate 1974. In 1979, he completed his Ph.D from University of London and Post-Doctoral from Oxford University, UK in 1987.
Earlier, in different times he also served as VC of BAU, head of the department, General Secretary of BAU teachers association, President of Bangladesh economics association, member of planning committee of Bangladesh and president of BAU Journalists’ association. – BAU Correspondent
