One person was sentenced to life-term imprisonment by a trial tribunal
here on Monday for possessing firearm illegally over four years back.

Enamul Bari found the convict Bakul Sheikh guilty of the charges and
pronounced the verdict.
Another accused- Alam- was acquitted as the charge brought against him
couldn’t be proved against him beyond doubt.
According to the prosecution story, in brief, is that a team of
Department of Drugs Control arrested Bakul Sheikh and Alam along with
a foreign pistol after conducting a raid in a Dhaka-bound bus at
Puthiya on January 24, 2009.
Subsequently, a case was lodged with the concerned police station. On
completion of investigation police pressed charges accusing them.
Special Public Prosecutor Ismat Ara appeared in the case on behalf of
the state while Advocate Mahfuzur Rahman Tomas defended the accused.
