Dhaka- Police detained seven leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami, including its district unit secretary (north), after cordoning off its Fatikchhari upazila unit office in Chittagong on Tuesday night.The detainees are north district unit Jamaat secretary Nurl Alam Chowdhury, former Ameer of Hathazari upazila, Shahidul Islam, Fatikchhari Jamaat leaders Moulana Musa Khan, Kazi Nazim Uddin, Abdullah Al-Mansur, Md Jahur and Moulana Abdur Rahman.Fatikchchari upazila unit Jamaat secretary Nazim Uddin Imu claimed that Awami League leaders caught its leaders at the office and handed them over to the police.Abu Yusuf Mia, officer-in-charge of Fatikchchari Police Station, said a team of police cordoned off the office being tipped-off that the leaders were holding a clandestine meeting inside the office to oust the government and detained them.Some of party books, magazines, banners and documents were seized during the raid, he added.The process of filing case against the detainees is underway, OC Abu Yusuf added.UNB news agency
