An employee of Barisal City Corporation (BCC) succumbed to road
accident injuries Tuesday morning.
The victim was identified as Mithun Chandra Roy, 26, security guard of
BCC and son of Ramesh Chandra Roy of Jeley Bari Pol area in the city.
Shakhawat Hossain, Kotwali police station in charge, said Mithun
received head injury while on the way to home on bicycle, a battery
operated auto-rickshaw hit him at 11:00 pm Monday on
Jeleybari-Hospital Road crossing.
He was rushed to Barisal Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital and
from there he was referred to Dhaka after his condition deteriorated.
Mithun died on the way near Mawa ferry crossing early Tuesday and his
body handed over to family members without autopsy with the permission
of the district magistrate, Kotwali PS in charge said.
Local people handed over Hanif Howladar, the auto-rickshaw driver to
police after the accident and Sub Inspector Mohiuddin as complainant
preparing to lodge a case in this connection as no case was lodged by
the victim’s family, he added. -Our Correspondent
