Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested five alleged drug peddlers along with 60 bottles of Indian Phensidyl syrup, chocolates and 48 pieces crackers from Chanchra check post area on Friday afternoon.The arrestees were identified as Azharul Islam, son of Shahadat Hossain of Panthapara village of Sharsha upazila; Sabbir, son of late Jahan Ali of Muroli village of Sadar upazila; Aminul Islam, son of Manirul Islam, and Tota, son of Abul Hossain of Police Line Kadamtala of the district town; and Abdul Hye, son of Abdus Samad of Puti Madhyapara of Manirampur upazila.Police said a team of DB police, acting on secret information, conducted the drive in the area first and arrested Abdul Hye along with 30 bottles of Indian Phensidyl in the afternoon.Later, they intercepted an easy-bike carrying Azharul, Sabbir, Aminul and Tota in the afternoon.Police searched the vehicle and arrested them along with 30 bottles of Phensidyl, some chocolate bombs and 48 crackers.
