Dhaka – A court here on Monday sentenced a young man to 14 years’ imprisonment and three others to 7 years’ one in a case filed for an acid attack on a college girl in 2014.The convicts are Rajib, 22, son of Masud Ali of Baidyanathpur village in Sadar upazila, his accomplices Ratan, 20, son of Ashraful, Al Amin, 23, son of Ramzan Ali, and Jahurul Islam Babu, 27, son of Amzad Mollah.
Judge of the District and Session’s Judge Court Arup Kumar Goswami also fined the prime convict, Rajib, Tk 50,000 and three others Tk 10,000 each.
According to the prosecution, Rajib used to stalk the victim, Sonia, after she had refused his love proposal.On July 5 in 2014, Rajib along with his cohorts hurled acid on Sonia through a window while she was sleeping in her house.
The acid attack left the college girl and two of her family members injured.Later, Sonia’s father filed a case with Islamic University Police Station in this regard.UN
