Dhaka, June 1 – Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain has assigned the Appellate Division Justice Hasan Foez Siddique as the chamber judge of the Appellate Division for hearing and disposing of urgent cases during the ongoing annual vacation.
Besides that, the chief justice also constituted 11 High Court benches for hearing and disposing of the urgent cases in the three weeks annual vacation, which will start from June 3 to June 23.
Appellate Division Justice Hasan Foyez Siddique will hold the earing of the cases since 11:00am on June 6, 13 and 20, according to a circular issued by the apex court administration on Thursday.
Among the 11 vacation benches of the HC, six are two-member (division) benches and five are one-member (single bench). They will deal with the urgent cases from 11:00am to 1:15pm during their scheduled working days, according to the High Court circular that published on the apex court website.
Both the Appellate and High Court Divisions of the Supreme Court went to a three-week annual vacation on Thursday and it will reopen on June 24.
A day before going on the vacation, the government appointed 18 new additional judges to the High Court Division for two years.
They were taken oath from the chief justice on Thursday at the Judge Lounge of the Supreme Court. After reopening of the Supreme Court the newly appointed judges will conduct trial proceeding of the cases.
The chief justice will reshuffle the High Court benches before reopening of the Supreme Court and the newly appointed judges will get benches for conducting trial proceeding after reopening of the Supreme Court, sources said. – Staff Reporter
