Rabindra-Nazrul Jayanti celebrated at RU

Rajshahi, July 14 – Highlighting the two great literary personalities as sparkling stars of Bangla literature and to mark the 157th birth anniversary of Biswa Kabi Rabindranath Tagore and the 119th birth anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, the Rajshahi University (RU) celebrated ‘Rabindra-Nazrul Jayanti-1425’ on Friday evening. The program was organized by university authority at Teachers Student Center (TSC) around 7 pm while TSC director Professor Dr Hasibul Alam Prodhan presided over it.
Former RU vice-chancellor Professor Dr M Saidur Rahman was present as chief guest while running vice-chancellor Prof Dr M Abdus Sobhan, pro-vice-chancellor Prof Dr Ananda Kumar Saha, prominent note writer Professor Dr Hasan Azizul Hoque, among others, were present as special guests.
Later, magical presentation of Ranbindra sangeet by Nondita Sarker from India, RU professor Dr Paddini Dey and Parbita Hoque enthralled the audience while Nazrul sangeet rendered by Chayanat vice president Khairul Alam Shakil and other local artists mesmerized the show.
Speakers urged all to draw lessons from the literature of Rabindranath and Nazrul to live a life like true ‘human’ first and foremost. This musical series aimed not only to please the auditory senses but also to know the history and context associated with each song and its creator, they added. – RU Correspondent
