DHAKA – The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 today deferred the hearing in the trial of Matiur Rahman Nizami, charged with committing crimes against humanity during the War of Liberation, till August 19.The ICT-1 set the new date as the prosecution failed to produce their witness before the tribunal. Today was fixed for recording the deposition of 16th prosecution witness (PW) and examining him hereafter.
But prosecutor Mir Iqbal Hossain sought time saying they could not bring the witness before the tribunal today. The tribunal accepted his plea and set the new date.
The incumbent chief of Jamaat-e-Islami was indicted on May 28, last year, on 16 counts of crimes against humanity including murder, rape, arson and inciting violence. – BSS
