Oikya Front postpones Rajshahi road march at last moment

Dhaka, Nov 7 – In a sudden move, the Jatiya Oikya Front postponed its road march towards Rajshahi scheduled for today. Oikya Front spokesperson Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir cancelled the programme at a press briefing at BNP chairperson’s political office in Gulshan yesterday hours after the Oikya Front confirmed its road march
to Rajshahi.
He alleged that their leaders and activists are being arrested even after the Prime Minister has given them assurance of not filing of cases and arrest of party activists.
Alamgir, also secretary general of BNP, said the programme has been postponed considering the situation.
He however said that the public meeting in Rajshahi will be held as usual.
The announcement came following a meeting with the president of Bangladesh Krishak Sramik Janata League Bangabir Kader Siddique.
Oikya Front sources however said that the road march has been postponed as they rethink the hardline programme before the Prime Minister press conference over the dialogue.
Many Oikya Front leaders think that they should wait till the announcement of the Prime Minister about their demands. – Staff Reporter
