4 arrested in sundarbans for using poison in canals

Four miscreants were arrested along with boat, net and bottles of poison from the Eastern Division of Sundarban forest on the charge of catching fish from the forest after pouring poison in the canals on Thursday.It is learnt from Khalilur Rahman, Assistant Conservator of Forest, Chandpai Forest Range in the Eastern Division of the forest that while the miscreants were catching fish from Andharmanik area under the range after using poison in the canals were  arrested by the forest guards who were discharging their patrol duty. The arrestee are Ashrafujl (32), Shaikh Asgar Ali (22), Najir (25) and Hafizur (22). At that time the forest guards seized a boat, 2 bottles of poison and a fishing net from them. At the same time 4/ 5 others miscreants mannered to escape. A case was also with the local PS under Forest Act. Later they were sent to the court. Another report states that on Wednesday another miscreant was arrested along with a boat, a trawler, 2 fishing nets and one bottle of poison from Charputia area under the same range by the forest guards. A case was also lodged against him under the Forest Act.              – Our Correspondent
