Horticulture office, a wing of Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE), sold
seedlings and grafts of various trees worth about Tk.10. 67 lakh this year.
According to Horticulture office sources, a total of Tk 10, 67,000 earned by selling of
seedlings and grafts of vegetables, fruit plants and medicinal plants during the period.
In a view to increasing fruit bearing trees, the office sold 4,880 coconut seedlings, 2,200
jackfruit seedlings, 6,000 mango grafts, 3,800 litchi grafts and 200 Sofeda grafts.
Besides, the office also sold 1,400 lemon grafts and 1,000 various medicinal seedlings.
During the year the office also provided training to 330 farmers on fruit trees cultivation
in Jamalpur and Sherpur district. –BSS, Jamalpur
