Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained 11 Bangladeshi nationals,
including women and children, from Putkhali border in Sharsha upazila of the district on
Wednesday.
Among the detainees, there were two children, three women and six men.
Sources at Jessore-23 BGB battalion said a team of BGB conducted a drive on Putkhali
border in the morning and arrested the 11 while they were entering India illegally.
Later, all of them were handed over to Benapole port thana. -UNB, Jessore
Smuggler held with 99 bottles of Phensidyl in Satkhira
Members of Boarder Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested an alleged drug smuggler along
with 99 bottles of Indian Phensidyl syrup in Bhomra Daspara area of Sadar upazila on
Wednesday.
The arrestee was identified as Robi, 28, son of late Abdul Aziz, a resident of Goyeshpur
village in the upazila.
Acting on a tip-off, a BGB team led by Nayek Shawkat Ali conducted a drive in the area
and arrested Robi.
However, Robi’s accomplices Shahidul Islam, 22, and Mukul Miah, 35, of the same
village managed to flee the scene.
Anarul Majhar, operation officer of Satkhira BGB-38, said Robi was handed over to
