Sylhet – Communist party of Bangladesh (CPB) and Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal (BSD) have said that the government-backed Chhatra League assailants, attacked their Sylhet rally Sunday, as no initiatives was seen so far to arrest them.Leaders of the left-leaning parties stated this after observing a half-day hartal on Monday protesting the attack by Chhatra League activists.
The leaders termed the incident as an attack on democracy and urged peoples to assemble under the left parties.
Chhatra League president HM Bodiuzzaman Sohag apologised to the parties for what he said the uncalled for incident. He made the statement at a press briefing at Dhaka University on Monday.
Earlier on Sunday at least 25 leaders and activists of CPB, BSD including chiefs of the two parties Mujahidul Islam Selim and Khalekuzzaman were injured as Chhatra League activists attacked their rally in Sylhet. – banglanews24.com
