Speakers at separate discussions have said the government has been working relentlessly
to achieve cent percent literacy to free the country from illiteracy by 2014 in the process
of building an educated nation.
They were addressing the discussions arranged at all eight district and 58 upazila
headquarters in Rangpur division in observance of the International Literacy Day – 2013
through various daylong programmes on Sunday.
The district and upazila administrations, different government and non-government
organisations chalked-out programmes including colourful rallies, discussions, seminars,
cultural shows, painting and essay competitions to mark the day.
In Rangpur city, the district administration organised a colourful rally led by Additional
Divisional Commissioner (Education and ICT) Mizanur Rahman in the street followed by
a discussion meeting and other programmes.
Hundreds of people including officials of different government and non-government
organizations, teachers, students, educationists, professionals, socio-cultural activists and
elite of the city took part in the rally.
Zila Parishad Administrator Alhaj Rezina Razzaque attended the main discussion
meeting organised by the district administration at Town Hall auditorium with Additional
Divisional Commissioner (Education and ICT) Mizanur Rahman in the chair.

District Primary Education Officer Dilruba Begum and Technical Support Coordinator
of NFE Delivery Project of RDRS Bangladesh Rahamat Ullah addressed as the special
