A local leader of Awami League (AL) was injured in an attack allegedly by the activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir at Khetrapara in Kolaroa upazila on Wednesday night.The injured was identified as Shafiqul Islam Mali, president of AL Joynagar union unit and former chairman of Joynagar union.Shah Dara Khan, officer-in-charge of Kolaroa Police Station, said a group of armed activists of Jamaat-Shibir swooped on Mali and hit him with sticks and chopped him with sharp weapons in the area while he was returning home from Saraskati Bazar at about 10:30pm, leaving him injured.Critically injured, Mali was admitted to Kolaroa Upazila Health Complex.
