JS session extended for opposition, Zafarullah says

Awami League Presidium Member Kazi Zafarullah on Friday said the
tenure of Parliament was extended so that the opposition can come up
with their suggestions about the next polls in the House. “The tenure of parliament has been extended so that you (opposition) can
express your opinion in the House,” he said indicating the main
opposition BNP. The AL leader made the remark at a meeting
preparatory to the sale party nomination forms at the Awami League
central office in the city’s Bangabandhu Avenue on Friday morning.
“The election will be held timely under the incumbent Prime Minister.
We would like to tell all political parties, especially the
opposition, come to election. Don’t push the country towards
destruction. If you want, we are ready for holding talks anytime,”
Zafarullah said. He said it is essential for holding a fair and
acceptable election for the sake of the country and the nation.
Apparently pointing at the BNP chairperson, the AL presidium member
said: “The leaders of your party started taking election preparations
covertly… they are waiting for your signal.” AL joint general
secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif and AL Dhaka city unit general secretary
Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya were, among others, present in the
meeting. The Awami League will start the sale of nomination forms on
November 10. Each nomination form will cost Tk 25,000. – UNB
