A Dhaka Court on Thursday fixed Nov 17 to pronounce the verdict in the
Money Laundering case against BNP Senior Vice Chairman Tarique Rahman
and his friend businessman Giasuddin Al Mamun.
Judge Md Motahar Hossain of Dhaka’s Special Judge Court-3 set the
date after completion of the argument on behalf of the defence.
A defence lawyer for Mamun concluded his arguments in the evening. He
cited different dissimilarities and irregularities in filing the case
and pressing charges against his client.
Earlier, on Nov 7, the prosecution completed their argument when he
sought maximum punishment for the accused.
Tarique, elder son of BNP Chief Khalida Zia is an accused in the
case. He was shown fugitive in much-talked-about Money Laundering
case.
On May 28, Judge of the court Mozammel Hossain had issued arrest
warrant against Tarique.
The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) filed the case with Dhaka
Cantonment Police Station against Tarique Rahman and Mamun on October
29, 2009 in connection with siphoning off Tk 20.41 crore to Singapore
between 2003 and 2007.
The court framed charges against Tarique and Mamun on August 8, 2011.
