‘CPB won’t join polls unless all others do’

The Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) will not take part in the forthcoming elections unless all parties join it. At a press conference on Tuesday, CPB President Mujahidul Islam Selim said, “Announcement of polls schedule cannot be a solution without initiating an end to the current crisis.”He said a credible election cannot take place according to this schedule. He termed the election without participation of all parties a ‘farce’ and said the people would not accept it.
The CPB chief said his party would wait for other parties — or else it would not join the election as per the current schedule. He said many evil forces were out to make sure the election was not held in a ‘free and fair manner’. Selim identified one of the forces as the Jamaat-e-Islami and the other, a group trying to cash in on the rise of non-political forces.
“They do not want the election with all parties to take part in it,” he said. CPB General Secretary Abu Zafar condemned Ticfa deal signed with the US. – bdnews24.com
