Dhaka – Lawyers loyal to BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami on Sunday said all the current political problems will be over if Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina hands over the premiership to a BNP man or one chosen by its chairperson Khaleda Zia.
They came up with the suggestion at a protest rally at the SC Bar building in their reaction to Sheikh Hasina’s offer that Khaleda Zia may take even the portfolio of the Home Ministry in the reconstituted ‘all-party’ cabinet formed to oversee the January 5 parliamentary polls.
The opposition lawyers alleged that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had come to power thorough a conspiracy and she wants to retain it through another conspiracy.
About Hasina’s call asking Khaleda to take people to the streets for the oust-government movement, they said not a single worker of Awami League will be found out on the streets if their police protection goes.
They offered the Awami Leaguers to come forward to the streets without police protection.
The protest rally, presided over by Supreme Court unit of the Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum (JAF) Zainul Abedin, was addressed, among others, by JAF secretary general Mahbubuddin Khokon, Taimur Alam Khandker, Moshiul Alam and Abed Raza of Islami Lawyers Council and assistant secretary of SCBA Mirza Al Mahmud. – UNB
