SQ Chodhury’s clounsel Fakhrul refused bail

A Dhaka court on Sunday refused bail to Barrister AKM Fakhrul Islam, a lawyer of convicted war criminal Salauddin Quader Chowdhury MP in a case filed for leaking out the draft verdict of International Crimes Tribunal-1in the case against the BNP lawyer.Judge Md Jahurul Haque of Dhaka’s Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court passed the order from his chamber after a lengthy hearing at his jam-packed courtroom.
The bail petition was submitted on Nov 25. Earlier, on Nov 24, Dhaka’s Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court placed him on a 4-day remand to interrogate him about the incident.
Later, the following day, the High Court stayed the remand order of the CMM Court and accordingly on Tuesday he was produced to the CMM Court. When Magistrate Md Emdadul Haque of the CMM Court sent Fakhrul to the jail.
On Nov 20, Detective Branch of police arrested Barrister Fakhrul at his Segunbagicha chamber in for the alleged leakage of the draft verdict. He charged under the Information Communication Technology Act, 2006 on Nov 21. – Court Correspondent
