Miscreants set fire to two buses in Dhaka on Saturday amid the 18-Party alliance’s nationwide blockade. However, there were no casualties in the incidents, police said.A bus was set on fire around 8pm in front of the Judge Court in Old Dhaka, said Kotwali Police Station OC Shah Alam. No one was injured as the flames were doused immediately.
A man was detained from the scene and was taken to the police station for questioning, Alam said. But he could not provide any further details about the person.
Another bus was torched around 7pm at the capital’s Farmgate, said Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Tejgaon division Deputy Commissioner Biplab Sarker.
Police suspect miscreants masquerading as the bus passengers poured petrol on the bus and set it on fire. They fled the scene immediately after the incident, Sarker said.
No one was injured.
So far, 13 people in Dhaka have died from severe burns sustained in arson attacks carried out during the Opposition’s previous blockades. Many others have also been injured.
Meanwhile, suspected supporters of Opposition-enforced blockade exploded several crude bombs at Mohakhali flyover area around 6:45pm.
A witness said several miscreants suddenly triggered the blasts and ran away as police fired several blank shots.
There were no casualties in that incident also.
Homemade bombs were also exploded in several others areas in the capital on Saturday during the Opposition blockade. – bdnews24.com
