Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in a drive seized nearly 100 powerful hand bombs and huge bomb-making materials from Geneva Camp in the capital’s Mohammadpur area on Friday. The elite force members also arrested two people — Shahin and Nadim -– in this connection. Didar, deputy director of Rab-2, said a team of the crime busters conducted a drive at a house of the Geneva Camp around 2 pm following a bomb blast there. During the drive, the Rab team arrested Shahin who was injured in the explosion. According to Shahin’s statement, the Rab personnel arrested Nadim, who was also injured in the blast, from Pangu Hospital. Later, the elite force team recovered the 100 hand bombs and bomb-making materials, including 1 kg gunpowder, from an abandoned toilet, 200 yards from the blast site, around 3pm. Around 120 more bombs could be manufactured by the seized materials, Didar said, adding that the bombs were stockpiled there to carry out acts of sabotage. – UNB
