BNP’s acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has condemned and protested the inhuman and the barbaric attacks on
minority people in different parts of the country and called upon the leaders and activists of 18-party alliance to stand besides oppressed
Hindu community and provide them all-out cooperation.
In a statement on Friday, he also expressed his deep concern over what he said killing of democracy by holding staged and farcical elections
and using the joint force to arrest the opposition leaders and activists, plundering in their homes and carrying out repression on
them.
“The present illegal Awami League government gradually pushing the country towards anarchy and instability to implement its grand design
to annihilate the opposition in fascist manner by using the law enforcing agencies after declaring themselves victorious in the
farcical polls,” he said.
The BNP leader alleged that the ruling party goons are carrying out attacks on minority people and put the blame on the opposition which
is the part of their traditional falsehood.
“It is now the people of Hindu community are demanding the punishment of the perpetrators after identifying the attackers belonging to the
Awami League,” he added.
Fakhrul also alleged the government has unleashed terror campaign against 18-party leaders and activists as they became desperate in the
face of criticism at home and aboard for low voter turnout in the January 5 polls that was boycotted by the people. They are now using
law enforcing agencies and party terrorists to arrest 18-party leaders and activists, attacks and set fire on their homes and plunder their
wealth, he added.
He called upon the government to refrain from undermining the ongoing movement by carrying out conspiracies, propaganda and evil design to
cling to power. Otherwise, he warned the government has to face consequence of previous autocracy.
Fakhrul also called upon the 18-party leaders and activists to carryout the ongoing programme peacefully facing all sorts of
conspiracies until their logical demands are met. – Staff Reporter
