Deputy Speaker Shawkat Ali has served a legal notice to Sushasoner Jonno Nagorik (Sujan) Secretary Badiul Alam Majumdar on a defamation charge.Supreme Court lawyer Shyamol Kumar Roy sent the notice to Majumdar on behalf of Shawkat Ali on Wednesday, said a media statement issued on Saturday.
Majumdar has been asked to reply to the notice within seven days.
The statement said the notice was served as he made a ‘defamatory’ statement, which was published in the media, against the Deputy Speaker at a Dec 27 press conference.
Majumdar reportedly said the annual income of Shawkat Ali had increased by 4,435 percent.
