Two people were killed and three others injured in a road accident on the Dhaka- Chittagong Highway in Baropara area in Daudkandi upazila here on Wednesday morning.
The deceased were identified as day labourers Matiur Rahman, 56, of Malakhal village of the upazila, and Ruhul Amin, 55, of Joynagar village in Kachua upazila of Chandpur district.Sub-inspector M Rois Uddin of Daudkandi Highway Police Station said the accident took place in the area around 7:00am when a covered van smashed into a CNG-run auto-rickshaw, leaving the three-wheeler’s two passengers dead on the spot and three others, including the driver, injured.The injured were admitted to Gouripur Hospital in critical condition.On information, highway police recovered the bodies and sent those to the hospital morgue for autopsy. –UNB, Comilla
