Manikganj – Two local leaders of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) have been sued on charge of abducting a college girl in the district town on Saturday.
The accused are Sabbirul Islam alias Sony, organising secretary of BCL district unit, and M Liaqat Ali, general secretary of BCL Manikganj Municipality unit.
Father of the victim filed the case against the two BCL leaders with Sadar Police Station on Sunday evening. Police arrested one of the accused, Sony, in this regard.Police and family sources said BCL leader Liaqat used to tease the girl, a third year honours student of a local college, on her way to and back from the college.
One month back, he misbehaved with the girl while returning from the college. However, the matter was settled later.
On Saturday, the girl went out of her house around 7 am to have private tuition.
When she reached Gangadharpotti area of the district town, Liaqat and Sony, along with two other youths, intercepted her and kidnapped her.
Sub-inspector of Sadar Police Station Rahmat Ali, also investigation officer of the case, said Sony denied his involvement in the abduction during preliminary investigation.
The SI also said they are trying to rescue the abducted girl. – UNB
