JMB men Zakaria, Rasel on 20-day remand

A court here on Monday placed two of the snatchers of the three convicted members of the banned militant outfit Jama’at-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) on a 20-day remand in two cases.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Sonia Akhter passed the order when Sakhipur police produced them before her court seeking remand for 20 days in the cases.
Those who were remanded are JMB men Zakaria and Rasel.They were arrested from Sakhipur after the snatching of the three convicted JMB men from Trishal of Mymensingh on Sunday.   Miscreants snatched the three convicts of the banned militant outfit from a prison van killing a policeman at Signboard in Trishal on Sunday morning.
The prison van came under attack as it was moving towards Mymensingh from Kashimpur Jail in Gazipur with the three JMB convicts — Rakib Hasan Russel, Boma Mizan and Salahuddin.
However, one of the convicts — Rakib Hasan Russel -– and two snatchers Zakaria and Rasel were held hours later.
Meanwhile, Rakib was killed in a gunfight with cops in Mirzapur upazila early Monday.
Police filed the two cases — one for killing a policeman and the other under the Explosive Substances Act. – UNB
